Meet Mingo

Ashley N. V. Mingo, also known as Mingo, is a Costume Designer who excels at visually narrating stories through costumes. She plays a crucial role in shaping characters' identities and breathing life into them, utilizing her wide range of skills and creative talents. Mingo is a proud union member of Local 829 United Scenic Artist, IATSE. Mingo embarked on the journey to become a costume designer at the age of 16, when she interned with the Costume Department for feature film “Safe” starring Jason Statham. From then she knew that her gift was in the art of film. Through her younger years she created her unique way to keep her dreams alive. She often created photoshoots creating costumes to honor legends of the past who had great cultural impact.

While studying Fashion Merchandising at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she became an assistant Costume Designer for the school's theatre productions. In 2018 Mingo decided to take a leap of faith and move to Los Angeles. By 2020 she earned degrees in Costume Design for Film and Television and in Fashion Design from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Since then she has built a network in the entertainment industry on both East and Westcoast. She costume designed eight award winning and festival placed short films, commercials, music videos and her first Award Winning feature African Giants.
